Alright guys, I'm looking to get a 7950 and over clock it substantially on air. From what I have seen the two best options are the MSI R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC http://uk.msi.com/product/vga/R7950-Twin-Frozr-3GD5-OC.html and the Sapphire 7950 OC http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&pid=1450&psn=&lid=1&leg=0.

I don't care about stock clocks so much, mainly just about the performance of the aftermarket cooler and its quietness under load. Any opinions about which card/cooler are better for lower temperatures once over clocked and under load would be great. Which card out of the two would you recommend?

I am only interested in the 7950 as an upgrade for my reference 6970 which is to loud. My case is good for air cooling but I can't specifically remember its model number (Antec).

Thanks, Josh.

At stock it isn't too much of an upgrade. Once both are overclocked it is a decent upgrade. If the extra performance is not needed. Just get an arctic cooler, can't be heard at 100% fan speed.

My experience with the Twinfrozr 6950 is that it is fairly quiet compared to a reference 6950. I have no experience with the Sapphire though.

I do a lot of video encoding and editing as well as BF2BC and Skyrim, with all the mods i'm using I hit around 33FPS on ultra at 1080p with the 6970 so I'd want to upgrade, along with the upgrade bug.

My 6970 is slightly OC'd but it won't go any further without artifacting :( But really its a question of which graphics card with the custom cooler could potentially over clock further with lower temperatures.

Have you over clocked it and if so to what levels? Load temps? And thats great that its quieter!
