Ok got my EVGA 790i FTW in the mail yesterday, and after reading through both reviews on newegg and EVGA's forums, I've noticed a lot of people gave it bad reviews because the motherboard didn't seem to like all 4 memory slots to be populated with faster RAM.
Then I looked through the motherboard manual itself, and it states that if you are using faster memory to only use the black-colored slots and not the blue ones. It doesn't explain why it is that way though.
Can anybody explain why the chipset has different memory slot values? I would think they would all support higher speed memory, but apparently you can get to super fast memory values on the black slots but not the blue. Is it for compatibility reasons, or did the engineers just mess up?
