The X1900xtx is $309 after $150 (!) rebate and the 7900 GTX is $300 after $80 rebate. Both are MSI.

Will be going in a new computer I'm going to build. E6400, P965 MB (likely, still undecided), SATA II, 2 gig DDR800, etc. 550W Antec supply in P180 case.

First upgrade in years. Not much into gaming anymore, but I figure I should be ready just in case.

Also any advice on memory or MB would be appreciated. I need Firewire so the DS3 is out.

If you're not really into gaming anymore but just want to have a decent gaming card, just flip a coin, both of them will suit you fine.

What are the prices before the rebates though, just in case the rebate doesn't work.

Just do it. You know you want to.

If you arn't really into gaming, I'd say go with the 7900GTX mainly because its quieter & Nvidia's drivers are a bit less of a hassle to upgrade, 2d performance & image quality are about the the same.

The XTX has are more advanced 3d image quality & features, but again if you won't be gaming much I'd say those factors are out-weighed by what I mentioned above.
