Im still searching for the best parts for my system and i have a few questions about the 7900GTX lock up, and a few other questions.

I hear that the 7900GTX has problems with locking up, im not completely sure what this means. But i do have a idea, what i think is that the screen just freezes up.

1) What is locking up? (if im wrong )
2) Why does it lock up?
3) How often does it lockup?
4) Any way to stop the lockup?

Other Questions.

1) Does it overheat?
2) Will it run oblivion and other high end games on full specs on a 1280x1024 19" monitor?
3) Should i get this card or save some money and go with a 7950GT 512mb?

I cant really think right now so ill probably have more questions to come.

Thanks in advance.

1) Locking up refers to the image freezing on your screen
2) A videocard locks up because of either bad drivers, or overheating.
3) Not at all... to my experience at least.
4) Have good airflow?

Other Questions.

1) Not really, I have never seen it pass 75C. If you have proper airflow you should not see it pass 65C under load.
2) It will rape Oblivion and eat it for breakfast at that resolution.
3) You should wait for G80 at this point. Its so close, and it will give you directX10 compatibility.

You are welcome.

It would do fine, but get a 7900GTO instead, it performs better than a 7950GT and is almost as fast as a GTX for much less cash.

I don't believe there is any widespread issue with this. If it locks up for someone then it's likely a system problem. Mine has never locked up and I've subjected it to very heavy gaming since I've had it.
