7900GTC Memory clock

Hey people,

This might be a very ignorant question..

I've got the Nvidia 700GTX card in my system, when I activate the coolbits tab, it lists my core clock at 650Mhz and my Memory Clock at 800Mhz

The specs for the card are Core: 650 and Memory 1600Mhz

Now the 800Mhz is half of the specs is this due to some calculation thing or is my card somehow ****ed?

It runs superbly, oblivion with all settings maxed and no hickup whatsoever, so I tend to think that I'm missing something here

just a moment - you actually have a 7900 GTX running at stock speeds ? and you didn't mention the manufacturer either, which also suggests that you have a reference card. Now we all know only undercover marketing agents have reference cards.....Yilar is a mole !

Yes ,it is running at stock speeds and I think Dell does indeed work with NVidia reference designs.. I haven't overclocked it yet, but from what I'm reading in the forums I should do so. The (giagantic) cooler should be able to handle the temperatures which under load are now only coming up to 47 degrees celsius.

If you're satisfied with the performance it gives you, then there's no reason to overclock.
 
To get good performance in the most demanding games (like oblivion) at 1600x1200 4xAA/8xAF you NEED more than a 7900 GTX. In fact only SLI/x-fire configurations give you good framerates (e.g. above 50 avg) in such games.

I'm running at 1280X1024, my 19" Dell flatpanel can't handle any higher resolutions, but Oblivion with everything maxed out, trees, grass viewing distance, HDR, (so no AA) gives me a good avarage between 40 and 60.. Depends on where you are dungeons better than outdoors ofcourse.. .

And no I don't need to OC it, but it would be fun to see what it does for gameplay etc.. Be interesting to see what 3dmark06 does too.. Currently I'm getting 5877 3dmarks..

I'd disagree with that. My x1900xt does oblivion at 1900x1200 with HDR and 16Hq af. It also worked fine with 2aa but I don't really see a difference so I keep that off. Manages 30+ outdoors at the lowest. average about 45-50. SLIwho?
