So is this much of a step up? they are on sale on ZZF for $210 and am considering it I mean I paid 225-250 for my 7900GT (eVGA KO series) a couple (4 maybe) months ago, and I am not sold on the whole 8800 series yet (no DX10 games and no vista for me) so I think the 7950 is as good as it gets (without going SLI) or is there a better card out there for DX9? and not 8800 series?

No, it's not much of an upgrade at all. If you really want a better card. The next step up is a 7900gtx or x1950xt. I'd sell my 7900gt for 145.00$ and grab a 8800gts 320 mb for 285.00$ and a free game.

You could probably overclock the 7900GT you have to near 7950GT speeds so I wouldn't bother getting it. As said, an 8800GTS in a month or two would be better.

7900GT to 7950GT isn't worthwhile at all.

The 7900GT would easily overclock to the 7950GT speeds, and if you do the simple volt mod, you'd probably get up to 7900GTX speeds with better cooling.

Ahh I see well I am currently running my 7900GT@565 Core and 800 Memory which I am guessing equates to 1600 memory clock? I am on eVGA's website and their 7950GX2 says 500 core and 600 (1200 effective) so it looks like I am moving faster then a 7950 anyways eh? So maybe I should just get another 7900 GT and run it in SLI, after all they are half the price of an 8800 and will net me similar speeds in DX9 no?

SLi is usually not the best upgrade route. Think about it, you could either buy the 7900GT for $150, or sell yours for $150 and use the remaining $150 to buy an 8800GTS, which will own it in games, has better quality and has support for newer features.

Yeah but the thing is personally I think vista sucks and so the bigger benefit is the DX10 support on the 8800 (Or so I thought) but if really thats truly the only way to go (i.e. 1 8800 will do better than 2 7900GT's) I suppose I might... Does anyone know if there is any comparisons (either here/toms/x-bit) that I can look at comparing the 8800's to the SLI'd 7900GT's?

Wow looks like the 8800 even beats out quad SLI stuff? wowies, I geuss it might not be one of those minor updates, maybe I should update my cpu first though (P4 D 830...)

Jesus, that's almost as fast as my 7950GT is running! The upgrade would not be worthwhile. 7900GT in SLi will not be as fast as either 8800. Go with an 8800GTS man.
