I would go for the X1900XT if you can. I have it myself, and it looks like the X1900XT could last 2 or 3 years before finally no longer being able to be able to play at 1024*768 with medium settings, if not longer.

On my system, an Athlon 64 3500+, 2 gigs of PC2700 ram(BSODed at PC3200, so it had to be downclocked), and my X1900XT, it can handle FEAR pretty good at 1600*1200 with 4xAA and 16xAF. I hadn't tried it with the adaptive AA and HQAF in real-time play but the stress test indicated it was 25 FPS or above 71% of the time, and in my book, 70% above 25 FPS would be required to be called playable.

My X1900XT is not overclocked, BTW.

But I again would recommend the X1900XT if you can get it.

Just be sure to use Driver Cleaner to clean out the Nvidia drivers, because I didn't(Well, I thought I did, but I got the wrong thing, I cleaned the "Nvidia WDM" option when I should have gotten the vanilla "Nvidia" option, and I got stutters until I cleaned out the "Nvidia" option. The "Nvidia" Option in the Driver Cleaner is the Display Drivers.

Here's a pretty good guide on how to do this.
