Ok guys, Im frustrated to hell and back..

Just put together a brand new system.
E8400 Gigabyte P35-DS3L MB
patriot PC8500

and Vista home prem 64

Card is an XFX 7900GT thats been running perfectly on XP Media Center forever.

Powered by an Antec truepower 500

Ive tried updating my video driver 6 times tonight with 4 different versions and every time except with default driver i get problems with the signal going un vewable mess of colors every time I either try to run a game or refresh rate.

The default driver works.. but has some strange anomalies in several games. nothing like a bad card more like a bad driver artifact..
flashes of light etc..

This card works fine in other systems and Im boggled...

Is this an issue with these older 64 bit Nvidia drivers?
or just my card saying FU I hate vista..
ive tried December 2007 as well as before.. they seem fine in the OS aero works flawless but launching wow casues the card to make the screen go all unreadable and unviewable with colors and squigglies.

any suggestions please.. I just broke the bank rebuilding this system was need to wait for the latest 9800GT card to be released or for its ratings to suck so I can just pick up am 8800 series card.

Oh well... guess noone wanted to answer.
bought another cheapo card to test looks like between moving my card from 1 PC to another my 7900GT met its maker.

New card works flawless.. XFX Warranty time.. maybe they will replace it with an 8800..

Glad you were able to troubleshoot the problem. It could've been ESD that killed your card during your move. I recently sold a 6800GS that worked fine for 4-months or so, but arrived with artifacting problems to the new owner. They were able to RMA and everything worked out fine, but just goes to show things like that can happen.

Welp sorry to rebump but this is good info for those with XFX 7900GTs that have been fine in XP and are switching to vista.

My problem was a known issue by XFX they sent a new bios to me that fixed the 7900GT in Vista.

They said the issue has been around quite a while but since my card had never been flashed ever it affected me.

so anyone else make a mental note on this.
