Called them up because my RMA was taking so long, and they said the "problem" was all on Nvidia's part, and they're awaiting a fresh batch of fixed GPUs.

I think I'll demand a better, working product... been waiting two weeks and they down right told me to expect to wait at least another week or two. (or more)

Hmm, I requested an RMA on about 6/12, on 6/14 it was shipped with 3 day select. It's suppose to be delivered today and luckly I have today off :)

SLI here I come (again).

Evga is very good about customer severice. What kind of card was it, 7900GT?

I know it's no excuse when you have been short-changed, but I believe EVGA had quite a few problems with 7900gt models.

It sux, but I imagine there are a lot of people in the same boat.

Best you can do is maybe coax them into giving you some sort of compensation. Stay nice about it though, a lot depends on the person you are dealing with. And most reasonable people won't give you anything if you are off with them.

Also, EVGA is normally a very good company. I'd give them a chance and see if you can coax a discount or something out of them.

Sorry man, it's the only advice I can offer you.

It sounds more like a new bios upgrade for the core gpu than the actual new hardware spin. It definitely takes time for Nvidia to test the new bios out prior shipping to its respective videocard mfgs. Be patient and let's all hope this will be it once and for all in terms of resolving one of Nvidia's worst nightmare.
I'm so far, a very lucky recipient of the new 7900gtx from eVGA that has worked flawlessly since day one.

Yeah, stepping up to a normal 7900GT from a 7800GS.

Would you guys really wait for this?
I agreed to a policy that says "After EVGA receives your trade-in card, it may take up to two business days to process and ship your Step-Up? upgrade card."

It's down right annoying.

If I'm not mistaken, BIOSs are actually company specific (BFG, EVGA, etc.). Also, there have been many attempts to fix the 79xx problems with a new BIOS and none have worked. This is a hardware issue, and since the hardware is spec'd by nvidia and built by one plant (flextronics) in china, its nvidias problem to fix.

It's very doubtful IMO, that the actual hardware spin to fix the issue would take 2-3 weeks. Two to three months is more likely.

I wouldn't worry. I'm suret that the'll get your 7900GT shipped out in no time. If you complain that it's taking too long they might actually bump you up to next day air :)

Are you sure it's a hardware spin? And why would hardware design flaw affect only a few percent (at most) of the chips? I should think it would be a defect with manufacturing and testing the chips. My eVGA 7900GT KO has worked perfectly since it arrived.

Other than maybe rebranding or tweaking values for default clock speeds and RAM timings, most BIOSes for Nvidia cards are going to be very similar to the stock Nvidia BIOS for cards that are based of the reference design.

True. But they've been having the problem since march. Thats 3 months. And from all indications, its the memory chips that are dying. Might just be a crappy samsung chip that was spec'd out for the board.

Holy crap dude, you want some cheese with that whine? eVGA is giving you credit for the FULL price of a perfectly functioning 7800GS towards an upgrade. No one else will do that. I've been waiting over a month to get back a replacement card I RMA'ed with another manufacturer, and you're going to whine about a possible two day processing time for them giving you what most likely amounts to a close to free upgrade?

No, I'm annoyed because I expected the whole process to take 1-2 weeks as described by their policy (I shipped my card because they supposedly had my 7900 ready), not a month or more.

I don't exactly have a spare performance gaming card.

I don't see how anyone can't get annoyed.

My bad. I didn't realize you were the OP. I thought you were complaining about waiting 2 days. If were you, I'd see if they will step you up to a GTX.

You don't have any other vid card to temporarily throw in there? Or is it that you do, but just can't game on it? hehehe. j/k. ;)

They're giving you a free upgrade from a 7800GS to a 7900GT. If you don't like it, ask for a full refund of the money that you paid for the 7800GS.

It is understandable how annoyed you are. I would be too. But, keep cool and communicate with them and keep it factual. As others have pointed out already, the customer service of eVGA is exceptional. It is actually second to none!

Do not get nasty in your emails or phone calls. It will not help.

Consider the situation from all angles. Would you have been happy if they sent you a card right away and you found out that it was artifacting a few days after you got it?
