7900GT Choice for OC?

Is it logical to assume that the GPU's from the companies that are just selling one 7900GT model are more likely to overclock than those that have different speed grades?

My goal is to water cool, volt mod and overclock a 7900GT, to that end my asumption is that companies like MSI, Biostar, Gigabyte... are not checking their allotment for speed ratings. Hence I have better chance of getting a high overclock. Whereas companies like EVGA that sell different speed grades are checking and keeping the good chips for their higher priced units.

Am I wrong? Am I missing something? Any opinions greatly appreciated. I have no trouble waiting for a particular model if one is better than the other.

not neccarilly true, some are just hand picked (so already overclock), some may be able to oc to same speeds (because they had enough high speed ones), but some may be incapapble

buying a vendor that doesnt supply oc'ed doesnt make it more likely to overclock
