Hi all, i'm using a 7900gs purchased from woot.com during their one day sale. it's OEM and was mfred by msi i think. anyways, setting up my media system was fine, i used my regular work monitor hooked up to the 7900gs with dvi input.

but when i moved the pc to my hdtv, using an svideo to component cable from another video card, the colors are not displaying right! the colors look really washed out, but they try to represent the original color (eg. firefox icon is orangeish and start menu is very faded blue. i used the svid to component connector on a radeon x1600 pro and it worked fine.

Do you think something is defective with the video card? are there settings i can change somewhere?

Here is my setup, i dont think any of these would cause an effect that im having...
DFI LP Ultra D
A64 4200+ 939
2x 512 gskill pc 4400
enermax 535w
wd 160 gb ide
chaintech av 710

What other cable did you use? The TVout pinouts have changed for nvidia between GF6 & GF7 (except for 6600's). Normally you plug S-VIDEO into a breakout cable, not the plug that resembles S-Video out on the card itself. I doubt any cable for any other card would work at all.

luckily, you are wrong about any cables for other cards working :) I used a breakout cable from my evga 7900GT and it works fine on my woot.com MSI 7900GS. I shoulda been smart enough to know that there would be different pinouts for different generation cards, let alone ATI and NV cards.
