Sounds like the card is dying. You're probably observing what is called graphical artifacts. Consider buying a new one.

Yea it sounds to me like the card is dieing as well; the store obviously doesnt know what they are talking about, of course gears of war "supports" that video card

well a 9600gt or 4670 would be about as high as I would go with that cpu if you cant overclock it. either one would be much better than what you have now and use about the same or less power.

yeah your cpu is WAY too slow to be with any card close to a 4890 or gtx275. if you were already getting by with a 7900gs then a 4670 or 9600gt will be a nice improvement.

tbh if you arent going to oc that cpu then just save the 35 bucks and go with the 4670. the only reason you are getting a new gpu is because your other one has issues and a 4670 will be a nice little upgrade. you are not going to get all that even a low end card like the 4670 can do with that slow X2.

well thats a much better cpu than what you have but its still a little slow compared to the newer amd and intel cpus. I certainly would not pay a whole lot just to upgrade to it. if you get it though the 4770 would be a good card to go along with it if you want something low power but still fast. you could get something a little faster but make sure you have a good power supply. what res are you going to be playing at?

A 4770 would be a good choice, IMO. It would make a nice backup card in the future, or could go to someone else that wants to play a few games. And, especially if you're running at 1680x1050 or higher, you shouldn't be horribly CPU bound.

It's more a matter of what power supply you have. A quality 350w+ (Antec, Seasonic, PC Power & Cooling, Corsair, BFG, etc.) unit should do the trick.

If all you want to do is 1024x768, save yourself a lot of money and just get a 4670. You'll probably be surprised by how fast it is for how cheap it is. You could probably run Crysis on a 4670 at 1024x768.

well unless you plan on getting a monitor pretty soon then I would just get a 4670. it will certainly be held back a bit by your current cpu at that low res so dont expect it to match the benchmarks you see in reviews. if the 7850 X2 isnt too much then go ahead and get it too. at 1024x768 a 7850 X2 and 4670 will be about twice as fast as what you have now. then several months from now when you do get a monitor you could just sale that 4670 and get a mid range next gen DX11 card.

At that resolution, I'll third the 4670 suggestion. The resolution is more CPU bound that GPU bound.

A X2 @2.0GHz (3800+?) and low, low res 1024x768. Toyota's advice above makes sense if you are still going to use the above set-up.

As you need a graphics card anyway, perhaps you could budget for a full system upgrade?
