I was under the impression that removing the door is an overrated thing. It compromises the airflow of the case. If you have a couple of fans installed correctly at least, they should send in air in the front and draw out on top or in the back.

My eVGA 7900GS KO was terribly noisy (to me). Any attempts I made to subdue the fan including Rivatuner control and/or a BIOS reflash failed. I then added it to my water cooling loop and now it's dead silent. I'm able to get 632/820 on water with this thing which seems remarkable to me... I'm pretty happy.

mine cant go that high for some reason, is it because of heat? its hitting 65-70c when im at 590/800 and it starts to artifact.

Watching my temps with and without the door says otherwise with my case. This Gigabyte Aurora has a sideways mounted harddrive cage that blocks alot of the intake, which is being provided by a pretty weak fan at the moment. Believe me, I'm well aware of how to properly cool a PC, I just haven't gotten around to messing with this one and changing parts yet...I've just recently put it together. You should see the ghetto cooler I have on my Opty in it right now :)

Mine artifacts before it even hits 60 if I try 600...doesn't seem to be temp related in my case. I did get it to artifact at a lower overclock once it hit 70....maybe somewhere between 65 and 70 is the limit for these to operate without artifacts. As far as his AWESOME 632 overclock.....perhaps, just like with CPUs, some people get better overclockers than others ;)

Considering the 7900GS has a reference stock of 450/660, your overclock is not bad at all. Most of the 7900GS out there are factory overclocked which is why you probably won't get an additional 100 MHz out of it.

Oh ok thanks for the info. Im thinking about stepping up to the 8800 GTS 320mb but i still got 82 days left to step up. I might wait it out till the new cards come out.
