I just got a pny 7900gs and started doing some overclocking. I was able to get the core to 570mhz from 450mhz. After that I started working on OCing the ram. I set it to 750 it ran fine though all 4 tests in 3dmark03 with 0 artifacts. I uped the ram to 775 and ran it again. Everthing was fine though the 1st 2 test with 0 artifacts but about 10 sec into the 3rd test it hard locked with artifacts. I left it for about 20 sec or so then a BSOD came up and it had artifacts too. So I just turned it off then on then I tried to run the ram at 750mhz to make sure it didn't mess anything up but now it will lock-up the on ramdom test like it did at 775mhz and can't get it to ran at 750mhz anymore. The ram will run fine at 700mhz but it will no overclock as high as before. So my question is by overclocking the ram to much will it lower its overclocking abilities?

I found a review on the PNY 7900gs that I have and it shows that the memory is rated at 700mhz(clock at 660mhz default on the card) and they got their ram on the card to 732mhz so my 750mhz run may have just of been a lucky run. The odd thing is that I set the ram to 700mhz and it ran good on a few runs of 3dmark03 tests but it locked up hard with 0 artifacts for about 5 sec on 3dmark05 but after that it still finished the run. Because it did lock-up i did get a lower score. I still think there maybe something wrong with this card though because when I overclocked the ram on my other 2 cards (fx5200 and 6800) there were artifacts but no crashes is this different with the 7900gs?
