7900 GT Superclock

I have a pair of the new 7900 GT Superclock cards, they are listed at 550Mhz Core and 1580MHz Memory.

Now my understanding is with the Nvidia drivers in their Overclock section, even if it is clicked on the, "No Overclock", it will still show the actual clock speeds, as I have taken a screenshot to show:

If these settings work correct, because in the past with other cards it has, then could it be a bug because I'm running XP x64, or that I'm using the latest XTreme-G Forceware Drivers, XTreme-G 84.21.v2 x64?

Or is it because there are not real offical drivers out yet to support the 7900s, so this might be something that needs working out and the cards are working correct, just that the driver support is lacking?

Anyhow if tbis thing is correct then the memory speed is way off from the default of 1580 here.

1580MHz on the memory is its effective clock speed because DDR RAM is capable of trasmitting data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock speed. Therefore, if its clocked at 790MHz, it has an effective clock speed of 1580MHz.

So what it is showing is correct then?

Thing is my 7800GT cards showed the full amount of the clock and I was just surprised it wasn't showing the full amount was all.

Why are they doing it like this now?

What kind of 3dmark scores are you getting?

Sorry, this eluded me at the time, but there have been problems with the eVGA 7900GTs regarding either monitor signals or incorrect clock speeds. Text. However, you can download a new bios from eVGA to remedy the problem. Best of luck fixing your problem.

I spoke to Evga on the phone, from that screenshot I posted, mine showing, 550, 790 is correct. It is just that the support for these newer cards isn't there yet. At least for x64 that is and that is what I'm running.

Happened to me too. I plug in my 7900GT and the memory is now showing 700 instead of the effective rate like it always use to on my 7800GT.

BTW, I'm using 32 bit with the 84.25 drivers.

Have you tried using the XTreme-G drivers?

He already is. Their the XG 84.21's which are the latest for WinXP x64

Yeah, the mem thing isn't the only driver issue. If you're overclocking and change the core speed for 3D, often the clock speeds will remain at 2D speeds, even if playing a game.
