not me, i don't like being a generation behind on vga. and i gained 1400 points in 3dmark06 before i even overclock the gpu. not bad at all.

the memory is the bj-14
appears to be really good, so good in fact that the coolbets tweak only goes to 1896 and i am at 1820 with stock volts.

so these high end GT's have 1.4ns memory instead of the regular 1.5ns? or am I way off? I thought 1.1 was needed to like 1800?

Do you mean at the speeds he is running? Maybe if he was adding more voltage to the memory chips this might be a true statement but he would be safe with no cooling at all at the stock voltage.

i alsways use at least ramsinks to cool vga memory at stock or modded volts.

You know that memory doesnt throttle right?

It will heat up and continue to do so until it it suffers damage and can no longer function.

I'm not so sure about this. My 7800GT at 470/1100 runs almost as fast as a 7800GTX. From the benchmarks I have read, it looks like a 7900GT at 560/1650 runs very close to a 7800GTX 512 card in performance. That's more than a 15% jump in many situations. I don't really see how raising the core of the card by 90hmz or 19%, the memory by 550mhz or 50%(!) and the number of pipes by 4 or 20% would result in only a 15% jump in performance. That said, I'm not sure, which is why I asked.

Also, for those of us using the eVGA step-up, it's likely to not be a $100 upgrade, but rather much less, between $13 and $50 depending on model chosen and original purchase price of the old card.

My XFX 7900GT XT arrives next wednesday for 350$, it's clocked at 550/1630..some of these cards are actually using 7900gtx chips i believe....
The XXX edition will be more expensive...10 to 15 $ more i am afraid....

Dear God I can't wait for my evga 7900GTX overclock cards to come in. Watercooliing these will be fun. and I hope I can reach near 10,000 3dmark06 with these cards and a X2. MMMM 10,000. The antipation is killing me.
