Hey All,

Lots of discussion about the 7850 lately. I jumped on the bandwagon at release and lucked out with the discovery of the Asus software.

I originally was at 1050/1450 at stock Voltage.

I bumped my voltage up to 1.145v and am now running 1200/1450 using 35% fan speed. I top out temp wise in high 60's gaming. Benchmarking will hit low 70's. I have a fairly cool room and am running 9 case fans currently. (usually keep computer room in low 60's F). I have my GPU fan profile set so it jumps from 35% fan speed to 75% speed at 70 degrees. So far in my experience, it rarely kicks into 75% fan speed and if it does, its for 1-2 minutes.

Will post some benchmarks upon request.

How much voltage is safe for these things? Temps as well? Curious is all. I'm pretty happy where I'm at right now, but down the road I may run a little more juice.

What card did you get and why?

I picked up the Asus Direct Cu II. I had looked at all the brands and from the research I had done within the first few days of release, it seems the MSI and Asus models have the best cooling performance.

I ended up with the Sapphire 7850 non OC model as it was available locally and I was able to PM it bring it to just under $250.00. I like the Sapphire as it's pretty small and has decent cooling. I was originally going to go for the Asus model as it was only a few bucks more but I would have had to order it and wait a few days and I wanted it ASAP 🙂

I also picked the Sapphire but I have future plans for an ITX gaming box where I'll want the smaller card for. The Asus likely cools better but the lenght of the cooler may restrict it in certain cases.

AFAIK the Sapphire non OC model uses the same cooler as the OC model and I'm not convinced Sapphire spends the time speed binning the OC models given the low overclocks they are shipped at, therefore it's not worth the extra $10.00 bucks IMO

With Asus tweak and BTC mining my card does 1150mhz at default voltage (1.075) and 1175mhz with a small bump to 1.107 volts. I'm guessing it'll handle around 1250 with better cooling and more volts, just haven't had enough time yet to test.
