Tri-SLI is moronic, I agree, but SLI does have a value. Plus, 680i/780i isn't just for SLI and I did have a lot of fun with it. It was the only board that actually handled 8GB (although it's because of its loose memory configuration) in a decent manner. Also I used my video card at the bottom PEG with little to no performance loss, greatly helping heat distribution when coupled with a Q6600. (which wasn't feasible with Intel chipsets until X38)

Electrolytic Capacitors are not consistent with durability in a Modern MOBO.
This is why they have power regulation issues that lead to component, and memory failures.
You know, that is highly debatable. Bad Axe 2 has been the most reliable Intel board among many I've used, and it doesn't have solid caps. Surely I'd take solid caps everything else being equal, but I don't think solid caps = durability or stability.
I Appreciate what you are saying Lopri, and I value your input here ..
I also have SLI on my Old AMD, and it makes that older computer a good value Three Years Later...
I know you have enjoyed your 680, I am amazed that you were able to get it to run like that but you show more patience, and skill than the common Joe.
Hmmmm... BX2 has Solid Caps in the power conditioning near the CPU Socket.. but yes the rest are Electrolytic...
But the shift to the Solid Caps is to address the slow degradation of electrolytic caps over time, and to place emphasis on build quality over feature set.
That is why Gigabyte has become such a force in the last year.
I am in agreement with what you are saying, and I'll give Rollo a chance.
I'm willing to give him the chance to try to show that he is here for something other than having Jen-Hsun Huang's hand up his ass, speaking "The Talking Points" of the day.
But evading, and side stepping issues is typical to the core company.
They attempt to ignore the end customer, and are insulated from the end user by their partnerships.
If you side step, cannot or will not respond to issues with your current products it does little to inspire that continuous improvement, and corrective actions are being applied.
It does little or nothing to inspire my faith in any of their products, other than their video cards.
We as customers, are in the middle of a political pissing match, that will be getting very competitive very soon...
