7800GTX will get it's h.264 decode assist!

Good news!

But Quicktime 7 needs to be fixed up quite a bit first..

It runs like complete ass, while 1080p WMV trailers run great!

Quiktime is not trash. Whenever I have a choice of either WMV or MOV i use quiktime, its cleaner and less crap to load as well.

I do agree though, we need benches and comparisons with the r520, when it is released.

Still this is yet another bonus for the 7800s.

will beleive it when i SEE it.

By the way, did everyone forget the 6800ultra blunder with defective "encoding units" or whatever they were touting? I remember a big thread, did it ever get resolved?

Yeah i did find a fix for it, nvidia says all you have to do is go into the control panel and select all from the drop down menu, then reset defaults (it defaults to very high gamme for videos for some reason) it fixed it for me.

Hence the "BETA" in the title.

I have never seen any H.264 movies/videos yet, I am anxious to just be able to watch it. Not like this POS I have that is constraining me.

Maybe they should live up to delivering a working PVP for all of us 6800 owners....I dont trust any of these companies until I see it with my own eyes working....
