Hi, I have recently purchased two BFG 7800GTX graphic cards to for my SLI rig.
And today, I finally got my hand on 3DMark05 to run some tests.
But the score seems very abnormal when comparing to those review sites with 7800GTX.

With SLI disabled, 3DMark05 score is 7925, which seems fine.
But when I enabled SLI mode, 3DMark05 score is only 9553.

I see many reviewer getting more than 12000 score with 3DMark05, so I am very disappointed that mine is below 10000.

Does anyone know why it is happening?

I even clean installed Windows XP and installed Forceware 77.72, but it didn't seem to help.

And my 3DMark test was ran with default setting with only Game Test 1, 2, and 3.

Thanks in advance.

post your complete system specs including your PSU power. ~7900 is right, i get about 7850 on my rig but 9500 is definetely low.

Here's my spec.
HP xw9300 workstation (Tyan K8WE OEM).
700W PSU
2GB PC3200 ECC REG DDR RAM
2 x AMD Opteron 246

System BIOS is up to date.
And nForce4 stand alone driver kit 7.13
with Forceware driver v77.72

Hmm... What could have gone wrong?

What kind of cpu? I get 7788 with a single GTX. Regrettably, I don't have a second one so I can't compare that.

oops... need to hit refresh every now and then...

I think the answer is a CPU bottleneck. While you're packing 2.0GHz A64s, they're probably being limited by the AMD chipset in that server MB as well as the error correction in that server RAM. You can see that you need a very, very fast A64 (2.6+GHz) to pull off 12k.

I've heard that the FX-57 can be OCed to 3.6GHz. I wonder how high the 7800 can scale?

Pete,

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.
I understand that that Opteron's are slower than FX's and ECC Regitered RAM are somewhat bottleneck.

However, I don't think it's the CPU's and RAM's that are causing the low 3DMark05 score for 7800GTX SLI.

As I stated on my previous post, I do get more than 7900 with SLI turned off.

I alos tested with single 7800GTX's 3Dmark05 performance by putting each card at once, and they do work just fine and get decent score between 7800~7900.

Now I assume that it maybe the System BIOS, so I may just have to wait and see if HP release any new system BIOS for my xw9300 workstation.

Thanks.
