7800GTX should I go BFG or eVGA

I've seen a few deals for the 700GTX cards...and I know they are expensive, but I'm going to buy one anyway.

The question is that Monarch has the eVGA for $498 and BFG for $535.

Is there a big difference between these manufacturers or the cards?

Is Monarch pretty reputable?

thanks

both are above the reference: 430/1200HMZ

BFG is OC'd to 460/1300MHz
eVGA is OC'd to 450/1200MHZ

but with eVGA's warranty policy, you can easily OC it to and past BFG's speeds.

evga is slightly faster

what mobo? (if it's a DFI Lanparty SLI-DR or one of its cousins, then you need to get the BFG b/c the EVGA will block airflow to the chipsest)

I believe that both now have lifetime warrantees, so i'd get whatever is cheaper.

eVGA will replace a fried video card where as BFG would not. So you get a power surge and BAM, bye bye computer parts. eVGA would replace your card where BFG would not. They would replace a faulty card that say the dies after a few years, but not one that got zapped. It is in the article AT did on the GTX comparisons. The reason why AT recommends eVGA over the others is cause of their warranty.

how will an eVGA block it while a BFG won't? Aren't all the 7800GTX the same size?

I wouldn't bet too much on the Step-Up deal... I put in my reuqest (for 2 KO's) over a week ago with eVGA and haven't heard back yet. Apparently. eVGA has a seperate stock for Step-Up, so even if they list the card you want as in stock for retail, they won't dip into that for Step-Up. Then there is the guy on AT that got a pink (rose) colored KO when he stepped up... Don't get me wrong, my experiences with eVGA have been good in the past (hence having 2 of their GTXes in my rig), but I'm not altogether blown away by the Step-Up deal so far... They could have been more up front IMO about the different stocking policy for Step-Up cards.

In speed, eVGA KO > BFG OC > eVGA.

eVGA KO = XFX OC > BFG OC > eVGA OC > eVGA STD = reference card

eVGA e-GeForce 7800 GTX KO
= XFX GeForce 7800 GTX OC both 490MHZ/1300MHZ
then
Asus Extreme GeForce 7800 GTX - 470MHz/1200MHz
BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC - 460MHz/1300MHz

then
XFX GeForce 7800 GTX - 450MHz/1250MHz

then
eVGA e-GeForce 7800 GTX- 450MHz/1200MHz
then
reference
[brand] GeForce 7800 GTX - 430MHz/1200MHz

😛

just pulling up numbers from my spreadsheet.
