7800GTX - Overclocked CPU = texture corruption?!?

BFG 7800GTX
AN8
OCZ 520 ps

The card / system runs flawlessly stock speeds
when I overclock the CPU to like 10x260 it runs very stable, no lockups or anything
BUT the video get flashing textures/ triangles in 3d games, all games
go back to stock, no flashing textures

I am not OCing the 7800 GPU at all <<<

I want to run CPU overclocked
any ideas, solutions??

Is the PCIe locked or coulld you be overclocking the bus. I remember the same thing happening back in the day with AGP video cards. When overclocking you would have o get not only a good performer but one that would take a 40% bus overclocking.

Honestly I don't know I haven't played around with it. I just remember The same thing Happening on BX boards when people tried to get the up 133. I know the PCI bus is locked but if i remember correctly people where talking about not using their SATA drives on the the Nvidia controllers because they weren't locked, which made me think since we are dealling with 20-24 diferent smaller busses that a PCIe lock might not always be possible.

um, if you are getting texture corruption, the wouldn't that mean your CPU WASN'T stable?

What are your CPU temps, and what are your GPU temps?

By overclocking your mobo's bus speed, you also overclocked your PCI-e bus as well. Probably running it way out of the PCI-e spec for the board and the card. You need to make sure it is locked.

Is your GTX factory overclocked? I have a feeling some of these G70 chips are being pushed past their limit with these factory overclocks.

I have a Abit AN8

the PCIe bus says/ set at 100, but you can change it
set it to 101

I am getting load temps of 70C for the 7800gtx
and my CPU at 49-52C. under 3D load

the BFG is 460/1300 out of the box
so yes it is overclocked I guess
=)

Any other suggestions?

If you run your mobo at stock speeds, you do not have this texture corruption correct?
If so, your card is functioning normally at its rated speeds. If you run everything stock and still have texture corruption, I would RMA your card. If not, we need to check if your o/c'ing your board with all the proper bios settings.

Why not try a slightly less overclocked setting, say 10x250 and see what you get.

It could also be a system memory problem. Try prime95 blend or memtest to see if your memory is stable at an overclocked speed.

If it was a cpu stability problem, the system would crash, not give artifacts. It's definitely something messing directly with the video.

Also try something like nTune if you have a nvidia system. This should tell you your HTT, PCI-E/AGP speeds, and more. Be sure they're all normal.
