You need to understand 512GTXs were "Hard Launched" so thats good enough around here

what the hell does that mean????

It means he doesn't want to help you and would rather lash out at other members in here for their opinions, thats all.

Anyway, vaporware refers to a computer component that has been released to the public with VERY limited availability and very hard to find in stock anywhere let alone trying to buy it. That appears to be what the 7800GTX512 has become. Nvidia is discontinuing production on the 7800GTX512 very soon. They are probably focusing on the G71 (next revision of the 7800 family) and that is what may be offered in the eVGA step up queue instead of the extremely hard to come by 7800GTX512.

Go to eVGA forums and look and see what options are open to step up qualified customers who were looking to get a 7800512GTX. You may get a great deal on a second 7800GT so you can SLI instead of flat out buying another one for full price. I don't know exactly what they are offering, so go on and check it out.

meh sorry had a bad night

on topic

go for the 7800GT SLI best bang for the buck - especially since you own one.

damnit! I guess they aren't open at this time of night.. Oh well... I really like this idea of $150 off so I will wait for a call back.

Damn, I wish I had submitted my Step-Up request earlier. Hopefully my request never gets filled, as I am number 270 or so in the queue, and I can get a discount on another 7800GTX. I would rather not have to remove the waterblock from my card and replace the original heatsink just to step up.

I believe they range in cash back if you already have a SLI set-up to hundreds of dollars off to get a second card to go SLI to staying in the queue and if no GTX 512 becomes available, they'll put you in the queue for the G71(which I think would be your best bet).

I still can't figure out why people talk about the GTX 512 being vaporware. If it was, I wouldn't have received one from TigerDirect last week. As I've mentioned in other threads, TigerDirect has had them in stock several times over the last couple of weeks and ZZF had both the BFG and eVGA models in last week. Unfortunately, they sell out like hot cakes.

OP, check the eVGA forums! You'll get the right answers and info there!

You got a point, but my 2 7800GT's pwn your single 512GTX for less $$$.

Not really. Matters what games at what resolutions at what settings. Since you're playing at super low resolutions, you wouldn't notice the different between 90fps and 100fps.

And in a couple of months, I'll be able to step-up to a G71 which will more than likely own your 7800GT SLI set-up for free.

1280x1024 is super low? Wow, didn't know that. What about when I crank some settings up to 8xTRSSAA?
