7800GTX 256 > 7900GTX 512

I've been looking for a review that compares these two cards and cant seem to find ome, there are plenty of 512 vs 512 ones but nothing i can located that shows the 7800 256 and 7900 512, anyone care to find what I am obviously missing?

7900GTX would beat a 7800GTX 256... use the 7900GT as your reference take off a marginal %age from the score of a 7900GT and you have a 7800GTX

The 7900GTX however, would easily beat a 7800GTX.
From a budget point of view (price/performance), the 7900GTX still wins.

The 7900GTX has a higher clockspeed. 650mhz vs 430mhz.
It also uses a faster GDDR3 ram. 1.2ns (1600mhz) vs 1.6ns (1200mhz)

The 7900GTX also has a better coolnig solution.

Think about it this way:
7800GTX has 24 pixel pipelines running at ~430mhz (some a little higher)
7900GTX has 24 pixel pipelines running at ~650mhz (some a little higher)
Also 7900GTX has 50% shorter pipelines so thats also faster
7900GTX is built in 90nm fab while 7800GTX is on 110nm (smaller=less power)
And last memory speed. As stated above, 7800GTX was ~1200mhz, 7900GTX ~1800mhz.

A 7800GTX is ~= a 7900GT. However when overclocking (especilly vmod's) the 7900GT becomes a 7900GTX. Just with less and slighly slower ram.

I dont think Anandtech ever had a direct comparison of those two cards, but the benches they do are usually the same. Just compare them.
