I was checking out this card, thinking about getting two of them for a SLI system looking to build. But I'm still learning about the SLI ways, etc., so what is with this 6 Pin PCI-E Power Connector?

Over at NewEgg:

People are saying it is only coming with a 4 pin connector. So what does this mean, should there be concern, or better to wait on them putting out this card later with a 6 pin?

THANKS

I have this card, and it indeed only has a 4-pin standard molex power connector. This just means you don't have to have a power supply with a 6-pin connector (or use an adapter) to give it the extra juice it needs. It's not better or worse than a 6-pin connector in functionality, just different.

Runs great :) It's a 7800GT, to be honest they just aren't *that* different when from a reputable manufacturer.

Yeah between that and the evga I wonder if there is really any difference.

SergeC what about the fan noise and temperature? Some people have been saying the fan has been noisy and a few have been saying the card runs hot for them.

THANKS

I'd agree, the stock fan on all reference-style 7800GTs is a bit loud for me. As far as running hot, it's cooler than my old 6800GT, and stable, so I can't really say. I did pick up a Zalman VF-700Cu for mine to quiet it down a bit (but I'm a bit anal about that), and it also dropped temps significantly.

HTH.

SergeC ok, yea that seems to be the problem with the 4 pin people running out. Personally my gutt feeling is leaning towards the evga, hmm
