7800GT vs x800xl and x850xt?

Hi everyone,

I bought a x800xl a while back, and I'm coming up to my return deadline. I wondering if I should return this, in favor for the x850XT or 7800GT (PCI-e)?

I checked out Anand's review for the 7800GT and it does compare the x850XT, but not the x800XL. The prices seem to be around $250 (if I can find a hot deal) for the x850xt and that would be an even swap money-wise for me. The 7800GT might be an extra $100 (if I can find one for $350 in the next 15 days). Just not too sure that's worth the extra $100 out of pocket. I'm not a heavy gamer, but since I'm still in the x800xl's return period, I'd like to make sure I get the best bang for my dollar, making sure this card can last me for as long as possible.

Any comments/suggestions?

Aaron

If you can return it i would do so. Either one of those cards is an improvement. If the x850xt is really $250 (!!!!) then go for that as you say you're not a heavy gamer.

Even if he is a heavy gamer. You can't argue with 250.00 for an X850XT. Good price.

Thanks. The x850XT for $250 (and there's even an OEM card for $30 cheaper) are both OOS now at ZipZoomFly. So I guess I'll just have to keep my eye out on it for the next 2 weeks. I guess that would be a no-brainer upgrade, for no out of pocket money. The $100 more for a 7800GT is questionable. I'd surely like the newer card, but yeah, maybe that wouldn't be worth it.
