7800GT SLI ... somethings not right im sure

as you can see at the top of the graph is 6800GS in SLI scoring 9400.

thats the same score i get with 7800GT's in SLI!!!! 24 pipes 10 vertex shaders at 425mhz vs 40 pipelines 14 vertex shaders at 450Mhz

now tell me something isnt wrong here? do the 6 series scale better in SLI or something?

single 6800GS scores 5130, 2 GS's almost double to 9453

single 7800GT scores 7300.....and my 2x7800's only bump up to 9500. do 7 series not scale in 3d mark that well? is my system fooked? i know im only running a 3200 venice but CPU doesnt matter to a large extent in 3d mark

Your score looks a little low even with a 3200+ Venice. Xbit Labs and Rage3D just did a review of SLI'd 7800GTs and both systems scored around 10,800 at stock speeds.

If you haven't already, you should oc that Venice. It's probably quite disgruntled running at stock speeds.

If you want to eliminate CPU bottlenecking, try 3DMark05 at 1600x1200. You should be significantly faster than a 6800GS SLI then. You could also try game benches at high res with full AA/AF.

ill give oc'ing the cpu a try at some point then....see what it brings

i mean the 03 score is right up there at nearly 24k. but for some reason 05 just isnt scaling as well

That is a bit too low. I landed 10195 on my first run, and that was with my CPU at 2.2GHz. Got my AS5, and resit my CPU with my Zalman cooler, bumped it to 2.6GHz and scored 11458. Over 1000 3dmarks for a 400MHz CPU overclock? Maybe just lucky. Using 81.87 betas. Single 7800GT scored 7710.

what are the clock speeds on your cards? these XFX ones come 450Mhz stock so i was expecting them to beat out the reference speeds.

i may try the 81.87's.....currently using 81.85's
