is it gonna be better than gtx because of the 20 pipelines??? where are the specs? i dont see how fast the ram is or anything (only core clock of 400)

No, the GTX has 24 pipelines.

It's not meant to be better than the GTX. It'll fill the same niche that the 6800GT filled behind the 6800 Ultra in the last generation. (guessing)

Personally I'm waiting for something comparable to the 6600GT in this generation (7600GT?).

At this point if possible I'd suggest waiting for the good ol R520 and then buy. (Although admittedly I'm quite pleased with my 7800. At 1680x1050 w/ 2AA, all settings on Ultra_high except Dynamic Light and Shadows, and Multisampling Transparency AA, I typically hit BF2's FPS cap of 99.9 in multiplayer, and generally stay there most of the game. (Some drops down to 70,80 etc, depends also on server lag.)


Anyway, that's how the 7800 should perform IMO. 100+FPS on high res with high detail for a fairly reasonably optimized game. No idea what I get in FEAR but don't consider that a valid test because of its crap code.

but the 7800gt doesnt work with sli right? i know alot of you dont care for sli. im wondering if someone can give me an unbias opinion. i read the specs and its not in there but im wondering if someone knows for sure.

In those pictures, the box says "sli ready"

it says right on the box...and I really don't see a single reason nvidia would not make it SLI

now all we need is a 7600GT/7800 that performs a little better than a 6800GT/6800Ultra but at lower cost

They made the 6200 SLI capable why anyone would think that they would limit any better chip is beyond me.

The most the will do is not let a chip have the bridge connector but now their drivers alow you to use them without the bridge at a slight performance hit.
