This is not scientific by any means, just my personal opinions and observations. First off, I had to change out my mobo to an Asus K8N4-E DELUXE in order to use the PCI-e card. That is the only change to my system for this comparison. See my sig for my other components.

I ran 3DMark05 and gained about 600 point with the 7800GT. Next, I was able to play Q4 at 12X10 with all the goodies on at high quality. I'm not sure what the fps was but it was good enough to enjoy the game. With the x850XT, this could not be done without dropping frames. I had to play at 10X7 to get playable fps. I've also noticed an increase in fps in F.E.A.R. with the 7800GT. I have yet to try HL2.

The other reason I decided to go with the 7800GT is so that I could go SLI in the future after AGP is dead. I hope this is helpful to anyone who is on the fence between these two cards.
