ok , im in the market for a new graphics card. I have an athlon 64 3200+, Gigabyte Ga-K8N ultra 9 nforce4 mobo.

I have a Samsung 710N 17" LCD monitor that plays at 1280 x 1024 native resolution.

I dont ever plan on getting anything higher than a 19" monitor so i will be always playing at a 1280 x 1024 resolution.

With this said, my question is should i go for the 7800gt or the 7800gtx. If i really have to i WILL shell out the extra money to get the 7800GTX. I just dont want to spend the money if im not going to see that much of a large difference between the two at that resolution.

The GTX is like a hundred dollars more, which is not really problem (just that i would have to put all of my change in coin rolls and bring it to the bank, thats where the extra hundered would come from).

So which should i go for?

Maybe i should just get the 7800GT and save the spare change?

7800GT. For 1280x1024, you don't need any more than that. If you get into 1600x1200 and above with AA and AF, then you might consider a 7800GTX.

yea, if anything i wont be getting to 1600 x 1200 for at least 2-3 more years (when i move out). And by then there will be new grapichs cards out anyways.

But untill then its 17" , maybe 19 " tops if i ever come across some random spending money

I'd go for the 7800GT if it's >=$100 cheaper.

With the money you save, you can get a 17" or 19" LCD with DVI down the line... 😉
