Here's my dilemma: I'm putting together a new pc within the next month. I've got a few components, but still have most of my stuff to get. I wanted to get a video card last--1 month after ati came out w/ its new stuff to see which way I wanted to go. I really don't want to spend more than $300 and have a chance to get in on the Dell BFG 7800GT OC for ~$315 (~$285 after MIR).
My question is this: If I wait a month to see how the X1800XL turns out, do I have any chance of picking up the 7800GT at that price again (if I decide to go that way) or should I jump on it now?? Any chance the ati will fall to around that price range by that time?
This will go along w/ an X2 3800+ (will try to OC it--first time OCer!), 2GB RAM and a Dell 2405 (that I'll get once it drops below $700). I want the most future-proof system I can get since I don't plan on doing any major upgrades for a good 3 yrs--I know that sounds like a stretch, but I've currently got a 1.4 ghz celeron, 384 mb of pc100 and a gf4 4200ti so I've learned to live w/out bells and whistles!
Thanks!
