Ok, so i've had my 7800gt for a while now, and i love it. It gives me great fps in all games except counterstrike source. Where i get about 40-50 fps. I was talking to some others and they have like 7600gts and get 100fps+. I was wondering why i was getting such low fps. and if any one knows how to fix it.

amd 3800x2
2gigs of corsair
Evga 7800gt
lanparty mobo

Thanks

what games do you get "great fps" in and what are they. It would be strange to get good performance in everything else and sucky performance in one game. Also what AA are you useing in CSS? What IQ settings do you have quality or high quality?

the iq setting is quality, my resolution in game is 1280x1024(lcd). my driver is 91.31 and on the css test i get about 57fps aa4x and anti is 8x
good fps in cod2 like 80+

that is "low" for 7800gt, i avg 105fps with 4aa/16af with my 7800gt @500/1200 and Fw91.33 on the CSS stress test(12x10 resolution), and on COD2 are you running in DX7 mode? cause that's a pretty high avg for a 7800gt.

also did you install the AMD Dual core optimizer for your x2 3800

Most likely nothing. Doesnt seem like you have the problem that is supposed to be fixed by that driver (stuttering for example).

There must be something else holding you back in that game.

That is pretty low FPS, my X800XL get's better frame rates than that.

Dunno if this still applies to PCI-E card, but make sure agp texture acceleration is on in dxdiag (type dxdiag in run).

Also try overclocking your 7800gt a bit. Maybe for some bizarre reason it's running underclocked or running with a 2d profile?

Check your rams timings, make sure no other programs are eating up cpu resources, install newest motherboard drivers and newest video card drivers.

Finally overclock that X2 3800, with the stock cooler you're still basically guaranteed atleast 2.2ghz (in my experience every 3800 I've overclocked has done atleast 2.4ghz too).
