7800GT CO vs 6800GS is it worth the extra $100?

Before I fire the trigger on purchasing a 6800GS, for $100 more I could get a evga 7800GT CO, now since the cost is roughly 1/3 more, then I would justify it by the performance being approx. 1/3 faster. I did quite a few searches on both, didn't really come up with anything for the two going head on(since I guess they are on a different class).

How do these two cards compare in terms of one overpowering the other, especially in terms of percentage gains.

Again, thanks.

yes it's definetly worth it, the 7800gt is one of the best price/performance deals. some can be found under $300

Same boat here....leaning towards the 7800 GT for $90 more since it will last longer in terms of staying slightly ahead of the tech curve.

I personally went with the 6800GS, as I don't play as many games as I used to. It overclocks like crazy; right now my card is oc'ed to 553/1230 on stock cooling.

I opted in for a 6800GS cause I wouldn't have enough for the 7800GT (although my bro got one). I ran 3dmark05 on my card, but forgot the score. It was a 5543 or around that with a stock XFX 6800GS. I haven't overclocked it cause I don't want to void the warranty, although its already at 485/1100 so its not like it matters too much.

The Tech Report is the only one I've found that has the 6800GS benched alongside a 7800GT.

The CO is also somewhat faster than a reference speed GT and is actually very close to a reference GTX. There is a review of it on Firingsquad. I think it's definitely worth the extra $100.
