Gainward also reached into the power mainstream market and made a new card based on Geforce 6800 GS and again managed to solder 512MB of GDDR 3. It uses 256 bit 1.4 nanosecond memory on the red printed circuit board (PCB).

what about stablity? is it designed to have 512mb ?

I'm not really sure a 7800GT would benefit so much from 512MB of RAM. On a 6800GS it's just a marketing gimmick.

None of the videocards benefit much from 512mb of ram yet because most games don't use the extra 256mb yet. But eventually, the extra 256mb will be used.

...but by that time, the cards will be painfully slow compared to what is on the market. And what are you going to do with the memory? Super high-res textures or super-detailed models (to the point that it won't fit in 256MB of RAM) will bog down the GPU too much to be usable.
