I replaced my 9700pro AGP with geforce 7800gs AGP yesterday and worked fine for few hours of gaming. But, when i restarted my computer, my Window won't start and my computer just kept on restarting. They gave me few choices but to format my system.
After formatting everything seemed fine exept that all my games and datas been gone. I began installing the service pack 2, and guess what.... my computer won't boot again.
Is there some kind of conflict with the service pack 2 or is it the 7800GS?
I never had this problem with ATI 9700pro... why am i having these problems?
anybody??

SP2 has conflict with every drivers in your computer that is slated for SP1/SP1a. Update your drivers OR install your computer with Win SP2 from the beginning.

Thanks for your reply..
but when I formatted my computer, the very first thing i did was installing the SP2.
and right when i restarted i couldnt boot again. after going through the safe mode, i uninstalled SP2 and everything was fine again. I also used the most current video driver from NVIDIA. Well.. I'm without SP2 for now.

I have the same card and run SP2 with no problems.

If SP2 is essential to you and continues to give you trouble, you might try what abs0lut03 suggested: install SP2 via a slipstreamed Win XP CD instead of installing it AFTER installing Windows.

No SP2 and being connected to the internet is a bad idea. Hopefully you have some good AV/Antispyware software running.

before installing sp2 make sure you have nvidia driver installed, must be 81.98 or 84.21. others do not support the card unless you have a beta driver recently released.

Well.. again... same problem. It wont boot again. When I removed SP2, It boots fine. I am using 84.21 forceware driver too. Should I wait for the new driver or what??.. geez
I'm also thinking about returning it.. or should I try the 81.98 driver?

Right now.. Im using Adware and Yahoo toolbar for my protection against trojans..etc.. =P
