7800 spotted for $508

It is $639 in Canadian dollars, which converts to $508 U.S. From the Inquirer:

THANKS TO A a sharp-eyed reader we discovered a company already listing Nvidian Geforce 7800 GTX cards.

It's an option on a PCI Express PC at ibuyer.com.

The Geforce 7800 GTX with 256MB - for now - sporting with DVI and TV out will add $639 to your PC's price.

It's interesting to note that 6800 Ultra with 512MB of Ram will cost you $114 more, yet it will clearly end up slower.

No link? Seeing is believing ya know. (Sometimes)

Well this is like VoodooPC did with the BFG 6800 Ultra 512MB. They had it listed as an option like two months before it actually hits the shelves.

What I found interesting was not that the 7800 was listed, but rather how much it was listed for. This was for the OEM version, so retail will probably be a little pricier, especially if supplies prove to be limited. But it's good to know that it is in the same range as the current top end cards.

It was probably a mistake and prematurely listed as an option. I'm not saying the information was wrong, just not available yet.

You have a point, if the 7800GTX is 500, then the GT most likely be 400 and the 7800 will be 300. With that kind of pricing and some decent availability ATI better have some kind monster up its sleeve or its going to get horribly out sold.

If it's available at OEMs already, and at roughly MSRP, this is good news. Likely means Nvidia had plenty of stock, and this won't be another paper launch.

We can certainly hope so, even though I won't be buying another high-end vid card until school starts until September, hopefully I have my pick by then 😉

lets just wait until launch to see if this is really true. but signs are that nvidia has rectified its problems of the previous generation.

yeah...where the hell did he get canadian dollars? dammit...i was starting to get excited..

MSRP is $500?

I figured it was Canadian dollars, since a) the Inquirer usually reports in that denomination, and b) in the same article, they quoted the 6800 Ultra 512MB at $753.
