Some of us dont have money...and...well even though a 7800gt would be more expensive than a new mobo...still...

i wouldnt rely on it coming out to agp anytime soon, if ever

As soon as you let IDE and CRTs in home PCs die:)

Having an AGP part will not hurt you, the ones that buy the AGP card will just have to pay more because of the bridge chip on it.

I more refresh in AGP isn't going to kill you..

God damn, PATA should be dead 4 years ago then..

PCI-E doesn't offer any CURRENT benefit, just like SATA really doesn't offer to much over a equiv. PATA 7200 RPM drive..

Uh, SATA is relatively new. :p And its far superior to the older PATA interface. I agree that CRTs need to die off.

However, the last official statement from Nvidia was that there will be no GTXs in AGP. Its possible there might be an AGP vanilla GT at some point, unfortunately.

Oops, meant IDE, although we can let sata die now that we have sata II

There no reason for me to upgrade my cpu or motherboard at this time. I'd rather just grab another 512mb of ram and a video card and game for another year or two. Then do a complete system rebuild with a AMD setup later on.

Anand said not for several more weeks, then we should see at least a 7800GT in AGP.

Here, we have a LeadTek GeForce 7800GTX 256MB at ZipZoomFly [RTPE: PX7800GTX] for $495. Just last month, we were wondering about the possibility for a $50 reduction by year's end. Surely, a $100 drop just one month later is pleasant news that NVIDIA brings us.

Unfortunately for AGP holders, this card is only available in PCIe form for at least several more weeks. People should really think about making the transition to a PCIe graphics slot if they're in the market for a new high-end/extreme card right now, since AGP (for all practical purposes) is dying quickly.

That is because they are the same generation drives with a SATA connector slapped on.

And I recently turned down two brand new Dell 1905FPs for my workstation and kept my Dell Trinitron CRTs.

To each his/her own.

That Why My computer I am buiding is using 3 SATA HDDs and a SATA DVD+RW drive.
AGP Might not be as bad ISA or PS2 but the longer people try to get their stuff to last one generation longer them more people buy the wrong thing which in then have to be supported for yet another generation. We would have Advandced BIOSes right now iff it wasn't for legacy support.
