ok - here's my problem.

This is my system in a nutshell...

A64 3800+ Venice Core
Asus A8N SLI Premium
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200
2 X 74GB WD Raptors
16X DVD-ROM
16X DVD-RW
Gigabyte 7800 GTX
Antec NeoPower 480W PSU
Lian Li case

Now that it is all together...

Will I notice a performance increase with dual 7800GTs? What kind of PSU would I need?

forget the dual...a 7800 GT isn't too far from a GTX...save the money...basically would you SLI 2 GTX's?

no...

unless you mean the 512 version...

Without AAx4/Anisox16, a 7800GT is as fast as a 7800GTX 512. With AA/Aniso, it takes less of a hit than non-SLI'd 7800 series cards.

yah true that go for one 7800gt then maybe later on
but two just seems dumb,

my 6800 acts just like a gt at lower res
felt there was no need for something better

what you may want to do is have 2gigs of ram in dual channel

I have a couple of sets of Corsiar PC3200 ValueRAM 1Gb dual channel kits. Would I be better off with 1GB of that, and selling my XMS?

I noticed a big difference switching my 7800GTX for the 7800GTs. Depends on the resolution you play at though. If you play at anything less than 1600x1200 (or 1680x1050) than it's not worth it IMO.

Best thing I've noticed since going from one GT -> SLI GTs is not the fact that the max framerates go through the roof, but it's the minimum framerate that has impressed me. Although one GT played COD2 just fine, adding the second GT made it sooo much smoother because the FPS doesnt dip nearly as far as it did with only the one GT.

exactly!...i only game at 1280x1024

even with 4aa/8af

my old gtx @ 530/1350 couldn't offer me that
