7800 GT question

my friend recently bought a Geforce 7800 GT from EVGA, not sure of exact model number but its the one that comes stock at 470/1100. Well i downloaded coolbits and then used ATItool to watch for artifacts and started to climb. I found that it can run at
Core: 520
Mem: 1300
Stable and solid as a rock. This seems to me like a VERY lucky draw because the mem is over most GTX's and equal with the best of em while the core is way over any GTX stock. Just wonderin if anyone else had any experience gettin theirs this high or if he really is just a luck S.O.B.
Thanks,
Morgash

I'm running 505/1130 IIRC. It's plenty fast and haven't felt like reaming it just for a couple of FPS.

i was usin ATItool to check for arts, dont have to use it to overclock, the artifact detection is great on that program

That memory speed is pretty nice. My cards are very similar, possibly the same. One tops out around 505/1150 while the other one can go higher on both core and memory, about 530/1250. (stable in rthdribl, 3dmark and a selection of games I tried) Although I have to use the slower card's speed on both.

Wow...those are some awesome overclocking. I could get mine to go at 501/1200 but it artifacts on BF2. I hear somewhere on this forum that BF2 tends to do that. Are you able to play BF2 @ those speeds and not artifacting/tearing?

i dont play BF2 much on his machine but when i do, no artifacting whatsoever. I used ATItool and 3DMark05 to check for arts b4 i ever tried games
