Hi guys

Does anyone else own a 7790 here? Anyone else having problems with theirs?

I bought my 7790 a month or two ago. I think its had problems for most of that time.

I have the PowerColor 7790 Turbo Duo.

First, I was using the special 7790 drivers that AMD released for the card. They worked okay, except that sometimes, the driver would crash, but only in Windows. And I can see some graphical corruption in FireFox. Games work completely fine.

I tried the 13.8 beta when it was released last month, but that didnt work at all. I think it bluescreened during the install, and after the install, said it could not find any AMD hardware.

So I went back to 13.4.

Then AMD released the 13.9 WHQL, so I tried that. Same result as 13.8 beta - at least one bluescreen during install, and if it didnt bluescreen, it said I had no AMD hardware after rebooting. So I'm back to 13.4 again.

What should I do? Could it be hardware related? Just confused as to why 13.4 would be (mostly) okay, while 13.9 would refuse to work at all.

Running Win7 64 bit, AMD Phenom II x6 1055T, Asus 770TD Pro (I think), 4x2GB DDR3.

Disclaimer : I don't own a 7790

Did you post this in the official AMD forums ? regarding flickering in FF did you try with disabling hardware acceleration?

Nope, and nope.

Its not flicker really - small black or grey boxes appear everywhere in FF. If I move the mouse over them, they disappear. Texture corruption? Forcing a redraw fixes it. EDIT: its not bad enough that I cant use FF, and they dont appear in every single tab. There might be enough to cover 10% of the screen on a few of the tabs, especially facebook.

I'll register and post on the AMD forums.

Did you do a clean install of the drivers? Use some kind of driver removal tool.

Yeah, I would suggest something like Driver Sweeper (or whatever its current version is called... Driver Fusion I think). Start in Safe Mode and remove all AMD, nvidia, and intel display drivers. Then reboot and do a clean install of the latest AMD drivers.

If this doesn't work, either you need a clean install of Windows or there's a hardware problem with your 7790.

I have a 7790 and it works fine with all of the Catalyst releases since June or so. Before that, it wasn't supported and you needed the special 7790 driver.

Just an update to this thread - I tried some driver sweeper software, cant remember what it was called, and it seems to have worked. I am running 13.9 WHQL as we speak. Woohoo!

Thanks guys.
