Has anyone tried a card not on the list and it works, like a 7950x2 or 7950gt. I want to buy one of these and put in this board. Is there any reason why it won't work?

7950x2 apparently needs 16 pci-e lanes to work properly but the775dual-vsta only has 4 lanes.

The 7900gt should work ok I think.

Thats my concern also, I'd like to buy that motherboard so I can use my current DDR1 RAM and upgrade to 2gig DDR2 when I can afford it but the PCI-E x4 thing is worrying me. Would it mean a x1900GT or x1800XT runs slower than it would in a PCI-E x16 slot?

Only the high end PCI-e cards take a small performance drop running on a PCI-e 4x slot
Other midrange and lower cards are not held back at all check these reviews.

Beats other more expensive motherboards in various benchmarks.
