Hey guys,
I just recently put together a new system for myself consisting of a 3.4Ghz 550 processor on an Intel 915PBL motherboard. According to spec, my CPU is running under "normal" temperatures - mid 50s idle and mid 60s under full load. My main concern is that while under full load (ex. playing games) the fan spins up and sounds hidiously loud. I suppose this is normal for the stock HSF?

Which brings me to the purpose of this topic - third party HSF. I was looking at either the Zalman 7700AlCu or the ThermalRight XP-120 (with the LGA775 mounting bracket of course). I've read reviews on both and searched the forums and both seem to be good options, but I just wanted to get any opinons from people out there with similar setups. I'm mainly looking for some added cooling with reduced noise (but who isn't, right?). It doesn't need to be dead silent, but not as loud as the stock HSF.

Zalman's website lists the Intel 915PBL as a compatible motherboard but the ThermalRight website claims that the XP-120 with the LGA775 adapter kit fits all 775 motherboards - can I get any further reassurance that it will indeed fit?

What do you guys think? Here are my full system specs:

CaseEdge TS-1 Case (1 front intake fan, 1 rear fan)
P4 3.4 550 Processor
Intel 915PBL MB
ATI X800XL PCIE Graphic Card
1GB Buffalo Memory
Etc.

Thanks in advance :)
