770P + x1800XT vs 970P + GF 7800GT

Hello Everyone, first of all , sorry for my Eng , i'm from Europe.
I've got some problem. I've got limited $ and want buy new PC with LCD.
I build 2 configs ( on paper 😛 ) and i'm courious what are U thinking obout that .
On my new PC i want play new games in res 1280x1024 (of course if its possible):

Config 1)

MB: DFI LP NF4-Ultra
CPU: AMD 64 3000+ BOX
PSU: Tagan U-01 380W
DVD-RW: Benqu DW1940
HDD: Sata NCQ 160GB
GPU: GF 7800GT 256 MB
RAM: 2x1GB PC3200
LCD: Samsung 970P (19")

Config 2)

MB: up.
CPU: up.
PSU up.
DVD-RW: up.
HDD: up.
Buda: up.
GPU: X1800XT 512 MB
RAM: 2x512 MB PC3200
LCD: Samsung 770P (17")

Both configs costs almost the same, diff is in GPU, RAM and LCD (17" vs 19" )

Maby better is first config, because soon we will have G580 and G71 premiere, so current high-end GPU will drop down ... so it's waste of money to invest in XT ...

Is playable for ex. CoD2 and Fear in max detal in res (1280x1024 for CoD2) with 2GB ram and 7800GT ?? I heard that with 1GB ram that games has poor framerate :/

I'd go for 7800GT Plus 970P.... Graphics Cards develop quicker than monitors, and 7800GT has great bangforthebuck.

why not get the 7800GT and a 17'' LCD than you have two gigs and money...

17'' and 19'' lcd's have the same resolution why not get a 17'' your not actually seeing anymore the 17'' will be sharper too.

idk if you knew this but i felt like saying it anyways a CRT is measured from a bezel so if your comingf from a 19'' CRT is probably has 17''-18'' viewable so a 17'' CRT is measured from the screen and has 17'' viewable. Get the 7800GT and a 2005fpw or 2001FP

Sory but my eye if $less, i preffer LCD ( SM 770P ,970P are excellent for gamers )

Does extra gigs of mem give me better performance ? (CoD2,Fear,NFS:MW,HL-2,Doom3)

EDIT: Anyone has 7800GT with 2 gigs of mem ? Is that enough for those games in max detal in res 1280x1024 ?
