I can't pay comcast $42 for internet anymore🙁 I don't game or anything anymore, so do you think I will notice a huge change if I switch to 768K DSL?

If you're just browsing and not d/l'ing anything then I don't think you will see too much of a difference.

I switched from Comcast to Verizons Yahoo 768k a few months ago....as mentioned above, browsing no, d/l yup

I have the ATT/Yahoo $13 month deal and it's fine for me. It's fast enough for gaming and since I'm at work for around 9 hours a day, I just start downloads the night before or in the morning.

Might as well go w/ $9.99 Netscape internet w/ speedboost or whatever the hell they call it. If you don't game, you don't need anything faster than 56K.

Ps. What's your phone company? AT&T/Yahoo has a $13/month deal on 1.5MB DSL.

I do not think ATT/yahoo is available in Boston. If it requires phone service, then I am at a loss anyways. I do not use a landline. Verizon has naked dsl for 19.99/month.

As for 56K, there is no way I can stay on a 56k line after going on cable....

I dissagree completely. My parents have that. I HATE browsing ther web on it. It is very noticable. I could never go back to 56k even for browsing.

Agreed. Dialup sucks, even with any kind of "software speed boost". I can tell a difference between 3.0MB ($29.99 BTW) and 768KB even when just browsing, but if all you're gonna do is browse, you'll be fine.

you will notice a difference. But since you cant afford the 6mbps cable service, that difference is moot.

I guess. I can afford the cable, but I really do not game and I only download things once in a while, so I have come to the conclusion that paying $42 for internet is kind of a waste of money when I am not even using 3 or 6 mbps. All I am worried about is the stupid 1 year contract.
