average score for my system is around 1400, even higher!.

I am getting 763

My hard drive is a Maxtor D740X 40GB - Fairly New
I am using it in UDMA mode 6 (UDMA133)
ASUS P4S533 motherboard with SiS IDE bus master drivers
It is on primary master with no other drives on the primary channel.
My file system is NTFS on Windows XP Home Edition
I am using the proper cables and I have defragged very recently.

ANY HELP, Because I really don't want to replace or format my HD

I have an older maxtor 20 gig ATA100.

Before I formatted with NTFS, I was getting almost 1000 on that test. Afterwards it dropped right down into the same range your running. It kind of freaked me out, but not enough to buy Partition magic or something like it to put it back to FAT32. It really hasn't seemed to make a real world difference in games or applications, so I don't worry about it.

From what i've heard, NTFS is a lil bit slower than FAT32: which would explain why your getting slower speeds than you think you should.
