Check this out:
7600 GT XXX and the 7900 GT XXX.

Here are the specs:

7600GT XXX........................7900GTXXX
590mhz...............................560mhz...................CORE CLOCK
1600...................................1650........................MEMORY CLOCK

At the current prices, you get almost equal performance with the 7600 compared to the 7900, for $160 less. Am I looking at this right?

Haven't heard much about the 7600GT lately though.

Umm... not quite. Look at the rest of the specs.

You need to look deeper into both video card's builds - Youre only looking at clock speed.

Lets take CPUs for example... Whats faster, a Pentium 3.7ghz or an A64 running at 2.6ghz? In reality, its the A64 by a mile.

Remember, we're in a day and age where clock speed is no longer the deciding factor.

The 7900gt is in a whole different league compared to the 7600gt

Also note the 128bit memory on the 7600gt as opposed to the 256 on the 7900gt (much more bandwidth on the 7900gt). The 7600gt is essentially half the 7900gt.

even if you were right lol... volt mod the 7900 and see if you dont get the other 100$ out of it.

though that argument is moot since you are not right anyway >.>

SLI 7600GTs would be hard pressed to outrun a single 7900gt xxx edition

7600 is nothing more than a warmed over 6600...

sorry no...
