Why Celeron? Hows 20 bucks sound? hehe.

Anyways, just got all these parts for a build for my son.

Any comments appreciated.

What kind of stuff is he going to play on it?

As long as he keeps the resolution at 1024x768 or lower, he should be okay, even in newer games.

Of course, if he develops an appetite for eye candy, you can alway lend him your C2D and 8800GTS rig 😉

LOL bryan!

Noema: Yeah he just plays a few new learning games but they were stressing his current PC.
Right now, he has a P4 1.6A northy, with a Matrox G450. I figured it wasn't much fun for him when his games started stuttering. hehe.
1024x768 is where this new PC will live, so he should be fine. He's not old enough for FPS games yet. Unless there is a game where we can play each other over my LAN and throw water balloons at each other or something. 😀

What about paintball mods 😉

Hehe, that would be kewl. But no guns of any sort for my little guy. It's funny cause I would love to play CoD2 with him, but it's too violent. I have to search for a game we can play together that's rated E for everyone.

The search begins.

😉

Meh overworried parents, what about commander keen ? I played that when I was 6-7 years old, and I'm pretty sure I didn't turn out violent 😛 You should have invested some money into a Wii if you wanted to play games with your kid. There should be plenty of games out there though, like racing games, that can be played together.

He has Game Cube and about 6 or 7 games. We play Sonic the Hedgehog games together. He loves those. He also is becoming a little savvy with the PC, which is another reason for his upgrade along with more demanding kids games.

And I'm not really overworried. Just erring on the side of caution on an impressionable child. When a child is this young, you can't be certain he/she can differentiate between shooting somebody with guns in a game without remorse or penalty, and real life.
Some do, some don't. And until I know the answer for certain, I'll assume he doesn't.

heh worms could be a blast with your kid. Kids seem to love it when a sheep blows up and hear some sqeaky worm screaming and go plop in the water 😛
