7600GT or 8600GT for HDTV in a HTPC

Hi guys. I'm putting together a PC mainly for use as a HTPC. I have my trusty 7600GT card, and I also have a PNY 8600GT with 256MB, model VCG8600GXPB. Which is better for HDTV? I'm just starting to read about Nvidia's Pure Video feature. I understand that in older games the 7600GT is faster, but it does not support Pure Video.
I know the 8600 series allows lower CPU usage , but will that matter with a decent dual core?
It does look like for HD video, the 8600GT is the one to choose.

system specs:
ECS AM2 board
AMD AM2 4200+ X2, stock speeds
1GB DDR2800, maybe 2GB if needed
Antec Neohe 500 watt

Thanks

The 8600 GT comes with a dongle that breaks out the video into component RCA jacks: red green blue. The instructions say it's for HDTV, and my set can take component video or HDMI
Is the dongle OK, or should I get a HDMI to DVI adaptor to put on the card to use a HDMI cable? 720p seems to be OK with component video, but my set can do 1080P.
Thanks

I'd do the adapter.
