I just upgraded from a 7600GT to 9800GT. My 3dmark06 score(1280x1024, default settings) on windows 7 went from ~3200 to ~8100. That looks rather low. Already had latest WHQL driver but uninstalled and reinstalled anyway. Booted to win XP and got ~8400, also latest driver.
card is BFG 9800GT low power. core clock is slightly lower than reference (550 vs 600) but shouldn't matter much.

AMD X2 3800+ oc'd slightly to 2.4ghz, 3GB ram, windows 7 32 bit RTM, installed a few weeks ago. Foxconn 6150K8MA-8EKRS mobo (socket 939, nvidia nforce4 chipset).

that's a 3yo mobo so it probably has pci-e 1.x, though the manual doesn't say what version it is.
I checked BIOS and there is nothing being underclocked or not maxed out. I loaded "optimized default settings" anyway but no change.
fwiw, I had a radeon 4850 on the same system briefly and only got ~8700 score.
