7600gs

Hi there,

Does anyone know if a 7600GS would work with this (Compaq stock) PSU, especially for stuff like Oblivion:

LiteOn 300W with 19A on the 12V rails.

PC is running Athlon 64 3500+ with 1G Ram, 1 HD, and 1DVDRW.

Was looking at
This One
and
This One
and even
This PNY GT

Which all say 300W minimum, although the manufacturers themselves said they recommend 400W.

Suggestions?

Thanks so much

7600GT is a TON better than the 7600GS... like night and day.

IMO You will need everything you can get for Oblivion. I have seen in some reviews that the 7600GS plays it at 1024x768 (800x600 sometimes) if you want any quality, where the 7600GT will run 1280x1024 with higher frame rates (playable 30's-40's). It is the best preformance for your $$ right now.

Also, the 7600GT is a low power card... you could try it, but there is a chance you will have to look into a new PSU. There are some rather cheap ones that would support what you have.

What type of motherboard? If you don't have PCI-e, then it could be a problem. And a 300W is ok as long as it's powerful.
